Removing tartar from teeth
Removing tartar is a very important step in preventing gingivitis and periodontitis.
Tartar is formed when mineral salts from saliva come in touch with plaque that has not been removed from the teeth. In this way, a rather hard layer is formed on the teeth, which can threaten the health of your oral cavity.
At the moment the tartar has been formed, you cannot remove it yourself, but the dentist will do the entire procedure extremely quickly and easily.
After ultrasonic removal of tartar, painless tooth polishing with special brushes and pastes usually follows, all with the aim of creating a smooth surface of the teeth where plaque and tartar will find it more difficult to remain.
Scaling is recommended once or more a year, depending on your needs.
Fissure sealing
Fissure sealing is a procedure that is recommended immediately after the eruption of permanent molars. The first molars come out first and it is advisable to bring your child to the dentist as soon as you notice that these teeth have fully erupted. This usually happens around the age of six.
By sealing the fissures, or rather pits on the tooth, food retention in those parts and deposits are prevented, which could later lead to tooth decay.
The fissure sealing is also a physical barrier between the teeth and the food, but it also contains fluoride that is gradually released and additionally helps the tooth on which it is located.
Remember that dental repair and dental treatment can be avoided very easily if you and your dentist are a team that prioritizes prevention.
